Seven Reasons I Keep Fighting

The things we do to fight for these foster kiddos… This week has been one of the hardest yet—a true roller coaster of emotions. Between visits from DCS and RCs, and the constant fear that we could lose the kids in an instant, it’s been overwhelming.

These kids mean absolutely everything to me. The days are long, the nights are sometimes sleepless, and the worry never really leaves my heart. But then there are moments—like wrapping Ray in the biggest hug and kiss the second he was brought back home—that remind me why we keep fighting. Even though the kids were upset, once they were finally settled in for the night, I felt a deep peace just knowing they were safe under our roof again.

I’ll be honest—there have been so many times in my life where I’ve tried to do the right thing, to be the better person, only to feel like it came back to knock me down. But this time feels different. This time, I truly believe that holding on to what’s right is what protected us, and I am so grateful for that.

And to everyone who stood up for us, who made sure the higher-ups understood that we are not the problem—thank you. We could never put into words how much that means to us.

At the end of the day, it all comes down to this: we are here for these kids. They are my heart, my fight, my whole world.
