Difficult days and we keep moving forward

 Fall break of 2025. It was one hell of a weekend, to say the least. Probably one of the hardest I’ve had since starting this journey. We had one child go to what will hopefully be his forever home. Watching him leave today hurt more than I expected. The hardest part was seeing no emotion in his eyes as he walked away. That was really hard for me. I’ve built a real relationship with this kiddo over the past year. I’m so happy for him, though. Wish him the best,

I haven’t been doing this long, but one thing I’ve already noticed about teens in foster care is this: most of them still have their mom in the picture. It’s the dad who’s usually missing. Either he was never really there, or they never even knew him.

When she first came into our lives, she was quiet, shy, and carried so much worry on her shoulders. You could see in her eyes that she was always bracing for the worst, unsure of her place in the world.
